I'm Clay Kucera, and I live in Sealy, Texas. By trade, I work in ecommerce, managing product data across a massive catalog — keeping things clean, consistent, and organized behind the scenes so a store actually runs the way it's supposed to. I've spent years living inside spreadsheets, and I've come to genuinely love the craft of it: building Excel and VBA tools that turn tedious, error-prone manual work into something automated and reliable. Fiscal calendars, pipeline dashboards, data cleanup formulas — if it can be systematized, I want to build the system. These days I also lean on AI to help write and troubleshoot VBA — it's sped up how quickly I can go from an idea to a working macro.
If I had to name what I'm genuinely expert in, it's Excel/VBA-driven data automation — the kind of deep-spreadsheet-craft work that most people never see, but that keeps a lot of things running smoothly.
Outside of work, I serve as Chairman of the Planning Commission here in Sealy, helping guide decisions on how our city grows, and I write the nonsectarian invocations that open our meetings. When I'm not doing that, I collect vinyl records, cook, and spend time tending my flower beds. I'm drawn to craft in general — things made with care that produce a real, tangible result. Lately I've also been teaching myself web development — HTML/CSS, SQL, Python, and JavaScript — partly to build this very site.
